Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
Primarily, I offer telehealth services, which means I can work with anyone in Ohio. Additionally, I offer Walk-N-Talk therapy in the greater Cleveland area.
What is Walk-N-Talk therapy?

Walk-N-Talk Therapy is a dynamic and innovative approach that blends the benefits of physical movement with the insights and support of counseling. During Walk-N-Talk Therapy sessions, you and your therapist will take a leisurely walk in a natural outdoor setting, such as a park or trail. As you walk side by side, the rhythmic movement of your body naturally aligns with the flow of conversation, creating a dynamic and holistic therapeutic experience.

What are your hours?
9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Thursday
7:00 am – 2:00 pm, Friday
Upon appointment, weekends and evening hours are available.
Do you have a cancellation policy? What is it?

The cancellation policy helps me protect the time devoted to you and your session. It also helps me create my daily schedule to prepare and plan my session appropriately. I also know that life happens, so there is an opportunity to find alternative solutions. Any appointment changes not requested more than 12 hours in advance of the appointment incur a fee of the rate agreed upon at the initial appointment.

How do I set up an appointment?

The first step is setting up a free initial consultation, which you can do by emailing morgan@curacounseling.org or calling (216) 220-7495. The consultation is our chance to meet via video chat, learn more about each other, and decide if we are the right fit for each other. Don’t sweat it, though; it is typically pretty casual.

Can you diagnose me with Autism Spectrum Disorder?
To receive an official Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, you need to be assessed by either a psychologist, psychiatrist, or neuropsychologist. Therefore, as I am a licensed professional counselor, I cannot provide that diagnosis.
Do you see children?
I have experience working with kids and am not opposed to working with kids now. However, I have found that telehealth options are not as effective with kids as with adults, and I would recommend Walk-N-Talk therapy modalities for kids.
Do you work with couples and individuals?
I work with individuals, couples, and families. Fees may vary.
Are you a licensed professional?
I have a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Heidelberg University and am currently working on my Ph.D. at Kent State University. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Ohio, a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (CASDCS), and a Certified Grief Informed Provider (CGIP).
Are you LGBTQIA+ affirming?
Yes, I welcome and celebrate a diversity of clients. Sexuality and gender are essential to our authentic selves and should be recognized.
Will I be in therapy forever?
No, my goal is to work myself out of a job. As you achieve your goals and hone your skills and strategies, your need for counseling reduces to avoid creating dependence. I aim to empower you and equip you with the techniques and tools you need to overcome obstacles and accomplish your goals.
What makes your approach to counseling different?

I don’t think my approach to counseling or well-being is different. I think my ability to translate my experiences and your experiences into opportunities to demonstrate agency, mastery, and advocacy is a unique skill that many people could benefit from. I also value multisensory interventions and visual explanations, which is why my clients tend to learn so much about their brains and nervous system.

What can I expect from sessions with you?
You can expect to be fully engaged in sessions and walk away from sessions with concrete strategies, more global awareness of your nervous system and brain functioning, and a sense of empowerment that you CAN reach your goals.
Who is Lois?
A queen. She is a queen. Lois is my 135-lb. Great Dane-Mastiff who often visits us in session and is present at most Walk-N-Talk sessions. She is full of love and melatonin, bringing so much joy and love everywhere she yawns.
What does CURA stand for?

Cura comes from a Latin phrase, Cura Personalis, which translates to “Care for the Whole Person.” This phrase is foundational to my work and my company.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?
Absolutely not. I have nothing more to say.
What’s your dream job?
This. . . or to make sound effects for Disney and Pixar movies.
What’s the best piece of advice for clients?
Only use TikTok for barbecue recipes and cleaning hacks.
